Jacq Vaucan is an insurance agent of ROC robotics corporation who investigates cases of robots violating their primary protocols against altering themselves. What he discovers will have profound consequences for the future of humanity. In 2044, solar storms have killed 99.7 % of the world's population and only 21 million people survive. The ROC Corporation has designed and built robots called Automata Pilgrim 7000 to help to rebuild the world. These robots have two security protocols; they can neither harm humans nor alter themselves or other robots. When police officer Sean Wallace shoots a robot and claims that it was altering itself, ROC insurance agent Jacq Vaucan is placed in charge of the investigation. Soon he believes that there is a "clocksmith" illegally modifying the robots. Jacq wants to live in the coast and asks his boss and friend Robert Bold to transfer him with his pregnant wife Rachel Vaucan to the coast. Robert offers the possibility if Jacq resolves the case. Jacq and Wallace go to a brothel where the modified robot Cleo attends and Wallace shoots its leg, expecting that the owner will lead them to the clocksmith. They meet Duprè but she is not the clocksmith that is modifying the robots. Soon Jacq discovers who is the responsible for modifying the robots but the Powers that Be in ROC believe that Jacq is the one to be blamed. This is a movie, it's not nor does it claim to be anything else. What concerns me is the criticism leveled by a number of people here who seem more interested in showing how clever they think they are rather than just letting themselves and others who may be gullible enough to listen to their spouting enjoy a bit of harmless entertainment. Get a life guys, I am guessing it is mostly guys girls seem to have more sense. This is a movie, a lot of people have invested time, money and their commitment in making it, what right have you to be petty and disrespectful of their achievements? This is not a review on the movie as I haven't yet seen it, this is more a reaction to the smug pseudo intellectual bullshit that infests these review sections. Review the movie don't try to compensate for your inadequacy with ill considered criticism. Leave aside Blade Runner or Asimov or any Robot stuff, this movie is pretty decent. Thank goodness, it's not another Hollywood Si-Fi film, instead it's full of imagination.<br/><br/>Imagine you're Cleo. "Stop Sir, you are putting a human life in danger." Two partners died to protect an ape, will you still step out? <br/><br/>Imagine you're Blue Robot. You're the One. You're Neo. Threatened, will you kneel down to Agent Smith?<br/><br/>If you can't, then turn to Channel Hollywood. <br/><br/>Think deeply. Technically speaking we are all going to die, all of us.<br/><br/>Think beyond. How to live real?<br/><br/>"Survive is not bright, living is."<br/><br/>You think. You live.<br/><br/>"It's just a machine,sounds just like it's just an ape. Just a violent ape."<br/><br/>Don't be another ape. Much like a spate of recent summer blockbusters, there's a tiring sense that every single facet of the narrative has to be rendered with truculent solemnity.
